Big Ice: the most complete trekking excursion on Perito Moreno Glacier
The Big Ice excursion is the most complete ice walk you can do on Perito Moreno Glacier, designed for those who want a longer and more intense glacier trek than the classic Mini Trekking. After crossing by catamaran from Bajo de las Sombras, the group puts on crampons and walks directly on the glacier ice for about 4 hours, exploring crevasses, meltwater ponds and blue ice formations.
It is a more physically demanding excursion than the Mini Trekking, although no previous ice-trekking experience is required: a team of specialized guides accompanies the group the whole way and provides the necessary gear (crampons, harness and pole). At the end of the walk, many programs include a whisky toast on the rocks, served with ice from the glacier itself.
