Punta Walichu

Punta Walichu: cave art and native history on the shores of Lago Argentino

Punta Walichu is an archaeological site a few kilometers from El Calafate, on the shore of Lago Argentino, known for its caves with paintings made by the native Aonikenk (Tehuelche) people hundreds of years ago. It is one of the few accessible cave-art sites near town.

The tour follows a coastal trail that combines the chance to see the caves and their paintings with beautiful views of Lago Argentino. It is a short, easy excursion, ideal to do in a few hours, both for those looking for history and culture and for those who simply want to walk by the lake.

We take you in a private transfer from your hotel to the Punta Walichu entrance, and arrange the return time based on how long your visit lasts. The transfer has room for up to 4 passengers. Message us on WhatsApp to arrange the departure and return times.
